Dr. Ulises Garza-Serna, MD, FACS, FEBPS, is a pediatric surgeon who joined the MercyOne Pediatric Surgery team in 2021. Dr. Garza-Serna finished his pediatric surgery training in 2014 at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in California (CHLA) affiliated to the University Of Southern California (USC). He is board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and board certified in pediatric surgery by the European Board of Pediatric Surgery. He received his medical education from the Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) Facultad de Medicina in Monterrey, Mexico. He completed residency in general surgery at the Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico, and completed general surgery in the United States at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
In addition, Dr. Garza-Serna has served as an instructor of advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery as an International Faculty and Scholar at the University of Arizona (UofA), and as Associate Professor of Pediatric Surgery at the Instituto Technológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) in Mexico.
