MercyOne Des Moines’ luxurious birthing suites are located on Level 3 of the East Tower. It is the goal of the delivery team to provide a safe and comfortable environment.
What to expect in the birthing unit
Each of the birthing suites is equipped with:
- A modern birthing bed
- A whirlpool tub to labor in
- State-of-the-art technology designed to keep mother and baby safe
- A sleep sofa for the labor partner
- A 27” flat panel television with DVD/CD player
- Wireless internet access
- Large windows to allow lots of natural light into the suite
- Small refrigerator for personal use
MercyOne also provides dedicated Cesarean section rooms with private recovery areas for post-surgery and two spacious waiting rooms for friends and family.
Families delivering at MercyOne will move from the birthing unit to a recovery suite just steps away after they deliver and have bonded with their newest little one.
What to expect in the recovery unit
The recovery unit at MercyOne is located on Level 2 of the East Tower and offers families a warm and comfortable suite to spend anywhere from 2-3 days in after delivery. Friends and family are welcome to visit you and your newest addition between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
The Mother/Baby Unit provides a warm, comfortable and quiet atmosphere that allows the bonding process between parent and child to continue. The Mother/Baby Unit contains luxurious private rooms that include:
- Single or double beds
- A sleep sofa for labor partner
- Flat panel television with DVD/CD player
- 24 hour access to the newborn nursery
- State-of-the-art infant security system
- Wireless internet access
- Large windows to allow for lots of natural light
- Complimentary room service for mother
- One complimentary meal for birth partner
- Large bathroom with new fixtures and hair dryer
- Small refrigerator for personal use
- Large waiting area for friends and family
