GabbyYou can be a blessing for a student at Mercy College of Health Sciences this holiday season by donating to the Mercy College of Health Sciences Scholarship Fund.

Every year, Mercy College transforms students into successful health care professionals to care for our community. Mercy College offers a wide variety of scholarships to support students of merit and in financial need to thrive in their education. Contributions made to the general scholarship fund or to one of the many endowed scholarship funds directly impact students and help them continue their education.

Gabby Gonzalez-Huisenga is a current Mercy College student working towards her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and her dream of becoming a nurse.

“When I was younger, I always knew I wanted to help other people,” said Gabby. “I am excited to graduate and become a nurse so I can do just that.”

Gabby is a recipient of the Thomas A. Reitinger Endowed Scholarship, which supports nursing students in financial need. This scholarship is one of the many endowed, donor-funded scholarships at Mercy College.

As a mom of a young boy as well, Gabby explains that also being a full-time student is hard, but he is her motivation to keep going.

“I want to become a nurse so that I can show my son that I did it while I had him and that he can do whatever he wants to do in this world,” said Gabby.

Gabby is grateful for the donors who made receiving this scholarship possible, and hopes others will support Mercy College students through scholarship funds.

“These scholarships are important to me because it shows that someone else recognizes that I am trying and that they support me becoming a nurse,” said Gabby. “Just knowing someone is out there to support you and encourage you in your schooling means a lot.”

“Thank you so much to those who have donated to Mercy College scholarships,” said Gabby. “I am so appreciative and I know so many other students who are as well.”

Mercy College’s Student Emergency Needs fund is another way to support college students in need. This program provides much needed funding for students facing the decision to stay in school during a personal financial crisis such as emergency housing and unexpected car repairs or challenges.

Your gift directly supports the success of Mercy College students and the next generation of health care leaders.
