Hearing Screenings

Hearing Conservation Testing

Hearing screen web.jpgThis testing is designed to help preserve and protect the hearing of individuals. These individuals range from farmers to those that work in manufacturing, truck drivers or anyone that could be at risk of hearing related complaints/symptoms. This testing is designed to perform at baseline or on a regular basis to detect trends in hearing capability.

In addition to offering testing for individuals in the hospital’s hearing test booth, MercyOne also has portable equipment to visit area businesses and industries to perform annual required testing for OSHA requirements.

MercyOne employs two professionals with their Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) credential. Many businesses depend upon certified clinicians who conduct audiometric testing as part of the hearing conservation team to help prevent hearing loss among workers.

Hearing testing is one of the wellness programs where an individual can come to the hospital and receive the screenings without a physician’s written order. Screenings are not meant as a substitute for regular medical care; it is a quick, easy and inexpensive way for people to receive more information about their health and wellbeing. Payment for the tests must be received at the time of service in cash, check or credit card; insurance will not be billed.
