Meet Our Physical Therapists:
Dr. Bret Kruthoff, PT, DPT, ECS, ATC, RVT, RCP
With more than 25 years experience, Bret is an expert in many areas of rehabilitation. “I was introduced to the world of therapy when I was a high school track athlete and suffered a hamstring injury,” shared Bret. “A physical therapist helped me return to track and qualify for the state meet so I knew that was a career I wanted.” Bret has earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Gustavus Adolphus College, a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University.
He is a clinical electrophysiologic specialist, certified respiratory therapy/respiratory care practitioner and a registered vascular technologist. Bret’s special interests include electromyography/nerve conduction, orthopedics and sports medicine. “Helping people feel better and return to doing the things they enjoy is the most rewarding part of my career,” expressed Bret.
Dr. Rebecca Gesell, PT, DPT, ATC
Rebecca (Becky) Gesell joined MercyOne as a physical therapist in 2014. Becky is a 2011 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in athletic training. She then attended Clarke University where she graduated from in 2014 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Becky enjoys providing customized treatment programs that meet each of our client’s individual needs. Becky also offers dry needling treatments and cupping.
She also performs the epley maneuver to treat vertigo. “Seeing patients make such great improvement under the care of our staff is very satisfying,” shared Becky. “We definitely believe in ‘mind over matter’. People don’t realize how much they can or should push themselves. Therapy does push the patient but in the end, we see awesome results.”
Dr. Amanda Rausch, PT, DPT
Amanda is a 2009 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where she earned her Bachelor of Science in biology. She then attended Des Moines University where she graduated from in 2012 with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Amanda is certified in Herman and Wallace Pelvic Floor and Selective Functional Movement Assessment.
