Woman receiving microneedling

As we go through life, our skin can show signs of aging, from acne scars to wrinkles, affecting our confidence. MercyOne Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery offers advanced treatments to target these imperfections and restore smoother, healthier and more youthful skin. Microneedling helps reduce blemishes and reveal your skin’s natural radiance. Learn more about microneedling below to take your first step toward rejuvenation.

Microneedling benefits

As you age, collagen and elastin break down and can cause your skin to not look as youthful. A microneedling device stimulates your body’s collagen and elastin which is what supports your skin. This will lead to the healing of acne scars, aging spots and wrinkles. You can look forward to smoother, blemish-free skin.

Before, during and after microneedling

Before microneedling, you and your provider will decide if this treatment is the best course of action based on your health and skin.

To prepare for microneedling, make sure you don’t have a sunburn, a recent tan or a skin infection. At your appointment, your provider will cleanse your skin and apply topical anesthesia to numb the area.

Once ready, a microneedling device is used on the focused areas. A microneedling device has multiple, fine needles that puncture the skin to stimulate your body’s collagen and elastin. The appointment can last up to one hour depending on the area.

Afterward, your skin may be red which can last a few days. Some patients see results after their first treatment, but you may need a few sessions to see results based on your skin concern. Look forward to how improved your skin will look before and after a microneedling treatment.
