MercyOne affiliate critical access hospitals receive national honors
May 25, 2022Clive, Iowa – Two MercyOne affiliates have earned critical access hospital honors from the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) and the Chartis Center for Rural Health.
Kossuth Regional Health Center is a 2022 Top 20 Critical Access Hospital for overall performance, while Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics is recognized as a best practice recipient for patient satisfaction.
Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona operates a 25-bed critical access hospital, two family medicine clinics, home care, hospice and public health nursing agencies. The organization employs approximately 250 individuals in MercyOne’s North Iowa region. Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics (GMHC) operates as a 25-bed critical access hospital located near the Mississippi River in Clayton County. GMHC provides primary care at three clinic locations and specialty care services in the Eastern Iowa region.
Approximately 160 individuals are employed by GMHC.
“Kossuth Regional Health Center and Guttenberg Municipal Hospital & Clinics demonstrate the value of innovative, compassionate personalized care,” said Mike Trachta, MercyOne Vice President of Network Affiliates. “All MercyOne affiliates are focused on delivering consistent safe, quality care that our rural communities need and depend on.”
Top 20 CAHs have achieved success in overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indices of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and finance. This group was selected from the Chartis Center for Rural Health’s 2022 top 100 CAH list, which was released earlier this year.
