MercyOne event to educate about options for joint pain relief
April 16, 2023Dubuque, Iowa; April 17, 2023 – MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is hosting a community education presentation for those living with joint pain who cannot find relief.
The event will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center’s Francis Auditorium on the sixth floor, at 250 Mercy Drive in Dubuque. The presentation will also be available virtually.
If medication, physical therapy and injections are no longer helping your joint pain in the hips or knees, it may be time to explore surgical treatment options for long-term pain relief.
Brian Silvia, MD, PhD, is a fellowship-trained total joint replacement orthopedic surgeon at Medical Associates Clinic who provides services at MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center. At the event, Dr. Silvia will discuss orthopedic and robotic surgery, focusing on hip and knee, joint replacement, and bone and joint. The presentation will include:
- Tips to help determine if you are eligible for a joint replacement
- A review of the joint replacement process
- Discussion of how robotic-assisted joint replacement can help you get back to living your best life
Robotic-assisted joint replacement allows for precise placement of the implant for a better fit and smaller incisions, as well as reduced injury to surrounding tissues, increased longevity of the joint and faster recovery.
During the presentation, Dr. Silvia will demo the Mako robotic arm used at our facilities for minimally invasive robotics procedures. Register for the free event at MercyOne.org or call 563-589-9600.
