MercyOne is nationally recognized for its commitment to providing high-quality cardiovascular care
August 25, 2024Des Moines, Iowa; August 26, 2024 – MercyOne Medical Centers across Iowa have received a total of 13 American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines® and Mission: Lifeline® achievement awards for demonstrating a commitment to following up-to-date, research-based guidelines for the treatment of heart disease and stroke, ultimately leading to more lives saved, shorter recovery times and fewer readmissions to the hospital.
Every 40 seconds, someone in the U.S. has a stroke or heart attack, and heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in the United States, respectively. Studies show patients can recover better when providers consistently follow treatment guidelines.
Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline put the expertise of the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association to work for hospitals nationwide, helping to ensure patient care is aligned with the latest evidence and research-based guidelines. As a participant in Mission: Lifeline and Get With The Guidelines programs, MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center qualified for the awards by demonstrating how their organization has committed to improving the quality of care.
“Our MercyOne teams are highly experienced and extremely deserving of this recognition for raising the bar on our very high standards of care,” said Hijinio Carreon, DO Chief Medical Executive MercyOne. “Our colleagues and physicians are members of our community, caring for our community, and we commit every day to making sure patients with stroke and heart attack symptoms receive the very best care, service and outcomes.”
