Funding Criteria and Limitations

Requests that fit our Mission, Vision, Values, and community benefit objectives and measurably improve the community health and quality of life will be given the highest priority for consideration for potential support. Funds are limited, and we regret that we cannot approve all requests. To be considered, a request for sponsorship or funding must meet the criteria below.

MercyOne is a member of Trinity Health (based in Livonia, Michigan) – one of the largest not-for-profit Catholic health care systems in the nation. As such, our funds are limited and will generally be prioritized to organizations with the greatest opportunity for positively affecting the health and wellness of the communities we serve. It is our policy not to approve funding for the following:

  • Political activities of any kind
  • Requests from or requests that benefit single individuals
  • Capital campaigns
  • Requests and/or events that do not improve the health of the greater community we serve
  • Individual scholarship requests outside of our foundation activities
  • Requests for sponsorship of events of questionable taste or would potentially harm the reputation of the health care system by association

Requests for Advertising Dollars or Contributions

  • All requests for support through advertising dollars shall be referred to the marketing and communications office.
  • All requests for advertising dollars or contributions must be submitted via our online Community Partnership/Sponsorship Guidelines process. You will receive an automated Acknowledgement of Receipt and the process for evaluation will begin. Please allow 2-4 weeks for a response and all requests must be received 90 days or more in advance of the event.
  • All requests requiring production of camera-ready artwork must be submitted at least two months prior to event or applicable publication deadlines. Your organization should provide detailed ad requirements including ad size, audio/video length, file type, etc.
  • Use of the MercyOne logo must be approved by the MercyOne marketing and communications department in advance of publication and must comply with the health care system’s brand guidelines at the time of use
  • Direct requests for contributions without crediting MercyOne will not be considered.
  • Internal funding requests from MercyOne colleagues will be evaluated using the same process as external funding requests.

Procedures for Activities that Benefit MercyOne

Fundraising activities to directly benefit any MercyOne hospital must be conducted in coordination with the regional health ministry’s MercyOne Foundation.
