Major League Baseball surprises MercyOne cancer patients with Field of Dreams tickets

- Kristi Foxen of Epworth, Iowa, is currently receiving radiation for breast cancer. Her 11-year-old-son, Drake, lives and breathes baseball and has been selected to the Team USA Midwest All Region baseball team.
- Joel Schambow of Platteville, Wisconsin, is a high school track coach and avid sports fan. Mr. Schambow is currently battling gastric cancer. His wife is receiving treatment for breast cancer.
All individuals have medical clearance from their MercyOne care team to attend this evening’s game.
Commissioner Manfred was joined by MLB Chief Operations and Strategy Officer Chris Marinak, Adnan Virk from MLB Network, and former MLB All-Stars and World Series Champions Nick Swisher and AJ Pierzynski from FOX Sports.
On hand to welcome the group were the dedicated care team members at the MercyOne Dubuque Cancer Center and Medical Associates, MercyOne President and CEO Bob Ritz, MercyOne Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Operations Officer Mike Wegner, MercyOne Eastern Iowa Region President Kay Takes, and MercyOne Eastern Iowa Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer Bob Wethal.
