  • Radiation Oncology uses radiation therapy in treating breast, brain and spinal, head and neck, gastrointestinal (colon, esophagus, pancreas, stomach), gynecologic, lung, lymphoma, metastasis, sarcoma and skin cancers. At MercyOne, we use state-of-the-art technology with pinpoint accuracy and advanced treatment techniques which minimizes damage to surrounding healthy tissue, in fewer treatments, with reduced side effects.
  • Medical Oncology is the treatment of cancer using several types of therapy including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and hormones to treat various kinds of cancer. At MercyOne our targeted therapies are used to treat bladder, brain, breast, cervical, colon and rectal, esophageal, head & neck, kidney, liver, lung, lymphoma, melanoma, ovarian, pancreatic, prostate, sarcoma, stomach, testicular, thyroid and uterine cancers. Many times, a medical oncologist will work with other oncology providers like radiation and surgical to find the best treatment plan.
  • Hematology Oncology diagnoses and treats blood cancers. This includes conditions like anemia, bleeding & clotting disorders, hemophilia, leukocytosis, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, sickle-cell anemia and thrombocytosis. Diagnosis for blood cancers may include tests including bone marrow test and biopsies. Treatment can include radiation, chemotherapy, blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants.
  • Gynecologic Oncology specialize in cancer of the female reproductive organs including, ovaries, vagina, uterus, cervix and vulva. This type of treatment looks for tumors in reproductive organs and work to prevent it from spreading to other areas. Treatment is diverse and can include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy or a combination.
  • Surgical Oncology is a type of cancer treatment which uses surgery to find and remove cancerous tumors. It is used as a prevention tool for those that have a high-risk or family history for certain cancers, like breast cancer. If your provider identifies a tumor, the surgical oncologist can do a diagnostic biopsy to identify if it is cancerous. Once they understand the extent of your condition, they can treat your cancer by removing all or part of the tumor and surrounding tissue.
