Mako SmartRobotics™
Mako SmartRobotics is an innovative approach to the most performed joint replacement surgery—hip and knee. This technology improves preservation of bone, reduces damage to soft tissue, improves physical function and reduces risk for revision.
How it works:
Prior to surgery, your MercyOne orthopedic physician uses a CT scan to gain more insight into your bone’s anatomy. This 3D virtual model of the joint allows your surgeon the opportunity to plan adjustments and maximize implant positioning.
During surgery, your surgeon receives real-time information to verify the CT scan is matching with your actual anatomy, then guides the robotic arm to remove the diseased bone and precisely align the new joint.
Robotic surgery benefits:
Patients with total joint replacement with Mako have shown a reduced length of hospital stay along with fewer risks of dislocation, less recovery time, and fewer physical therapy sessions following the operation.
