Anthony Ellis, DO

Dr. Anthony Ellis enjoys a variety of medicine when caring for patients. He has many personal interests as well, including aviation, carpentry, writing, movies and of course his grandchildren. His first patient as an osteopathic doctor was the doctor who delivered him.

Dr. Ellis practices geriatric medicine and covers patient care in several area nursing homes; is comfortable with occupational medicine and trauma care. He has done emergency medicine along with family practice since he first started his career in 1989 as a physician assistant. In 1999, he completed his three-year residency in Family Medicine in Sioux City, Iowa. He has delivered many babies – seven in one night while a resident.

His sense of humor is always centerstage as he tells a "story" about one of those babies, his goddaughter. He teases that he dropped her at delivery. After pausing a couple seconds (she has heard this story many times), she jokes back, "That explains everything."

He treats his patients as he desires to be treated. He is a teacher, a jokester and a compassionate listener who always is aware of the many things he is still learning. He is a member of the Garner Rotary and serves as the medical director for the Garner Ambulance Service.
