Pradeep Vemula, MD is a neonatal medicine specialist at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.
“The tiniest of babies need the steadiest of hands,” said Pradeep. “I have a passion for intensive care. The first time I witnessed a premature birth, the vulnerability and fragility of life, I knew intensive care for neonates was my calling.”
Pradeep received his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India. He completed his residency at Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York City and a fellowship at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
He specializes in neonatology and neonatal-perinatal medicine, with interests in the growth and development or preterm infants.
“Neonatology provides a unique opportunity to make connections with families over an extended amount of time,” he said. “During the hospitalization of the infant, parents and families are worried about what the future may hold. It’s important to not only provide compassionate care to the infants but also provide support to the family members.”
