Sandra Chen, DNP, FNP-C, ENP-C is a family medicine provider at MercyOne.
Sandra graduated with her Bachelor of Science in nursing from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She went on to receive her master’s degree from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She later attended Briar Cliff University in Sioux City for her Doctor of Nursing Practice before receiving her post graduate Emergency Nurse Practitioner degree from Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee.
“I have dedicated the majority of my nursing career to rural communities. As a registered nurse, I’ve worked in rural hospitals covering departments like the emergency room. I have continued providing for these communities as a Family Nurse Practitioner. These experiences have strengthened my understanding of the unique health challenges facing our rural communities.”
Sandra is passionate about health prevention and management of chronic illnesses; things she says she sees often in Siouxland communities.
“It’s really rewarding for me to provide care to diverse populations like those here in Siouxland, and it was important to me to find an organization that focuses on the patient. That’s why I wanted to work for MercyOne. They focus on quality health care and access to care as well.”
