Tara Lynch, IBCLC

Tara Lynch is motivated by her personal experience with breastfeeding and uses her empathy to help families during their joys as well as challenges of breastfeeding or pumping journeys, as well as parenting joys and challenges.

“I especially enjoy assisting families on their breastfeeding journeys and make every effort to help them reach their feeding goals,” says Tara.

As a mother of five spirited children, Tara is familiar with the breastfeeding journey and knows that everyone’s journey looks and feels different.

“My children have given me good perspective as I am helping families through their breastfeeding journeys,” says Tara. “All of my children's breastfeeding journeys were different and unique and we have had to work through different challenges with each one.”

Tara grew up in Bernard, Iowa but currently resides in Dubuque, Iowa with her husband and their five children. She graduated from the NICC nursing program in 2007 and obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Clarke University in 2010. Tara joined the MercyOne Dubuque Birth Center in 2009 as a labor and delivery nurse, and in 2016 she moved into the role of a home visit nurse, providing in-home checkups for parents and newborns just a few days after their hospital discharge. In addition to this role, in 2017 she followed her passion for supporting breastfeeding parents and their babies by obtaining her certification as an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant.

“I wanted to work at MercyOne because my family has come here for all our health care needs,” says Tara. “I was born at this hospital and had good experiences in clinicals as a student nurse at MercyOne. I am passionate about the excellent care we provide to our families in the MercyOne Dubuque Birth Center.”

In her free time, Tara enjoys spending time with her husband and their children.

These days we are trying to find joy in the simple things like raising our children on our farm, seeing their faces light up when we get to do something special, and watching their little personalities develop,” says Tara.
