Zachary Bliek, DPM, provides foot and ankle care at MercyOne Newton Medical Center and the Newton Clinic. As a podiatrist, he diagnoses and treats various foot and ankle conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, bunions, painful fractures, plantar fasciitis (heel pain) and arthritis. “If foot or ankle pain is holding you back, I want to help you get back to what you love doing,” Zachary said.
A skilled podiatrist can help people with diabetes prevent complications. “If you have diabetes, I want you to know how important it is to see a podiatrist for regular diabetic foot care,” Zachary said. “High blood sugar can damage the nerves in your feet. That means you could have an injury or infection without feeling it.”
Zachary graduated from Des Moines University Medical School. He completed a residency at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, also in Des Moines. He is originally from Rock Valley, Iowa.
