Hospitalists
If you are ever admitted to one of MercyOne medical centers, it is important to know while you are an inpatient, a hospitalist will provide your care. Your hospitalist will work with our expert care team and communicate with your primary care provider for a personalized approach.
What is a hospitalist?
A hospitalist is a physician or advanced practice provider (APP) specializing in the care of hospitalized patients. Benefits of a hospitalist on your care team include:
- Access to around-the-clock provider care.
- Available provider in the event of unforeseen changes in your health.
- Ability to admit and discharge to help prevent delays.
- Communication with your primary care provider.
- Faster delivery of orders and test results.
Upon discharge, MercyOne will forward a comprehensive report to your provider for your follow-up care.
Can I see my provider while I am hospitalized?
Your hospitalist will have primary responsibility for your care while you are a patient at MercyOne. They will maintain regular communication with your provider. You always have the option of contacting your provider directly while you are a patient here if you have additional questions or concerns.
If you have questions about the hospitalist program, ask your primary nurse.
