Des Moines Joint Camp Waterloo Joint Camp
We recommend you follow the Joint Camp Program in the order below. This program is designed to help you take a proactive approach to your health with a faster, more successful recovery process following joint replacement surgery.
Start with your Primary Care Provider
Start your joint replacement surgery first with your primary care provider. It is recommended you consult with your primary care provider if you are experiencing excessive, consistent hip or knee pain.
Joint Camp Pre-Op Class
When you and your surgeon have decided to move forward with joint replacement surgery, you’ll connect with our Joint Camp Educator, who will help you prepare for surgery and answer your questions.
The joint replacement care team will work with your orthopedic surgeon to make you comfortable and confident on surgery day. During your stay at the medical center, our care coordination and therapy team will help evaluate your progress and connect you to further resources to help you get back to your daily activities.
Post-Surgery Care
You aren’t alone when you go home after joint replacement surgery. Your orthopedic team will check in with you to make sure you are healing, moving and on track with recovery.
Based on your recovery, your primary care provider may suggest outpatient physical therapy. We encourage you to discuss this with your surgeon prior to surgery and to make your outpatient physical therapy appointment ahead of time.
