How does virtual care (Telehealth) work?
A virtual visit connects you with a MercyOne provider on a digital device using the internet and video/audio.
- After booking your appointment, you’ll receive an appointment confirmation via text message. If necessary, please complete registration using your device.
- Once you’re registered, you will receive a phone call from MercyOne to collect any additional necessary information.
- When your provider is ready to see you, an appointment invitation will be delivered via text message.
- Use appointment invitation instructions to begin your visit.
For your virtual visit, you will need the following:
- A quiet, private and well-lit location.
- High-speed internet paired with a smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera and speaker.
During virtual visits, providers can prescribe or adjust medications, review test results, coordinate additional treatment options and assess whether further care is needed, as well as much more.

During Your Virtual Visit
Is my visit recorded?
No. Recording your visit is prohibited.
Can my provider prescribe medications during my virtual health visit?
Yes. If a prescription is right for your care, the provider will send a prescription to your pharmacy of choice.
My provider can’t see or hear me. What should I do?
Make sure your camera is on and you’re not on mute.
Can I take a call during my virtual visit?
No. Do not take or receive phone or video calls during your visit as it could end your virtual visit too soon.
Can I use other apps during my virtual visit?
No, do not use any other apps as it can interfere with your visit.
I’m having trouble with my microphone. How can I communicate my provider?
Click the chat icon to type a message to your provider. If the problem persists, feel free to reschedule your virtual visit or visit your provider in person.

Are Virtual Visits Covered by Insurance?
Virtual Visits, also referred to as telehealth, are covered by insurance including Medicare and Medicaid. A co-pay may apply based upon the coverage plan. Virtual Visits can be appropriate as a follow-up visit for an acute condition, medication management for chronic conditions, reviewing test results and other types of visits in which close physical examination is not needed.
