Hospitalists
MercyOne Centerville's hospitalist program provides patients with a hospital-based practitioner to coordinate their care while in the facility.
Hospitalist programs are a common fixture in many larger hospitals today, allowing a practitioner to treat patients and be available in the inpatient setting. A hospitalist program can help hospitalists provide additional focus on quality, safety and consistent coordination of patient care. It also allows primary care physicians the option to focus on treating more patients in the office setting.
MercyOne's VP of Patient Services, Sherri Doggett said, "One advantage of having a hospitalist involved in the care of the patient is that they are in the hospital all day. As things change, x-ray or lab reports become available or as family members arrive and need updates, the hospitalist is immediately available to provider expertise."
