Crème Cupcake Partners with MercyOne Children's Hospital and Des Moines Foundation this December

Crème Cupcake + Dessert Bar is partnering with MercyOne Children’s Hospital and Des Moines Foundation this December. Crème has generously donated 500 cupcakes to benefit the Children’s Hospital and to highlight Child Life services.
Crème and MercyOne Des Moines collaborated and created the MercyOne Children’s Chocolate Cheer cupcake, a chocolate cake cupcake filled with chocolate mousse and topped with a marshmallow buttercream frosting and sprinkle mix. This cupcake will be sold at Crème through the month of December, with $1 from each sale benefiting MercyOne Children’s Hospital.
An assortment of Crème cupcakes, along with the MercyOne Children’s Chocolate Cheer cupcake will be sold December 3-23 for $5 at MercyOne Des Moines and West Des Moines Medical Centers. Proceeds will benefit MercyOne Children’s Hospital and Child Life services.
Difficult or unexpected experiences, such as chronic illness, hospitalization, the death of a loved one or the aftermath of a traumatic event can be upsetting for anyone, especially children. MercyOne Children’s Hospital Child Life Specialists help with the adjustment of hospitalization and teach kids about procedures.
“We use evidence-based practices to help educate and empower children to master their hospital experience and overcome challenging medical events,” said Avery Nisius, MercyOne Children’s Hospital Child Life Specialist.
“The best part about being a Child Life Specialist is being able to help a patient or family work through their nerves and walk out smiling and happy,” said Rebecca Gerecke, MercyOne Children’s Hospital Child Life Specialist.
