Donor Spotlight: Brenda Krumel
December 20, 2020Brenda Krumel, Account Executive at Lamar Advertising Company, knows that by supporting MercyOne House of Mercy, she is directly impacting the lives of some of the most vulnerable in our community.
House of Mercy is one of Iowa’s largest and most comprehensive providers of vital behavioral health services, and the state’s largest program for parenting women with children. House of Mercy uses evidence-based practices to provide high-quality, personalized care for each client. Gifts made to House of Mercy support programming, which helps these individuals and families as they recover.
“One of the most beautiful things about House of Mercy is that they offer treatment, care and support for parenting women struggling with substance abuse disorders through their residential program,” said Brenda. “The family unit is able to stay together and receive services and care at each level of treatment and recovery.”
Since 2015, Brenda has served on the House of Mercy Board of Directors and is the current Chair. She hopes that in her role, she can be supportive and encouraging to House of Mercy staff and clients by staying informed on any challenges or issues and offering help or advice.
Brenda expressed that in addition to House of Mercy’s residential program, its community outreach is quite extensive and the programming offered is vital for our community. Looking forward, she hopes House of Mercy can continue expanding its reach and programs.
“I support House of Mercy because my husband and I like to support local services, and I know the personal impact House of Mercy can have on all individuals, especially women, children and their extended families,” said Brenda.
“I see and hear success stories continually and feel like the support we give has a direct impact on bettering those who are struggling with mental health issues and substance abuse disorders. House of Mercy not only treats the addiction but offers a full circle type of programming that I think really changes lives here in our community.”
The Joseph and Dorothy Schuster Mental Health Center has opened at House of Mercy, expanding upon the organization’s mental health outreach and resources.
“The Joseph and Dorothy Schuster Mental Health Center is a tremendous asset to the community,” said Brenda. “The need for services in the area of mental health is more crucial now than ever before.”
Brenda hopes others consider supporting House of Mercy.
“House of Mercy is one of those organizations that can truly impact in the lives of some of the most vulnerable in our community.”
