Funding vital research efforts which work toward clearing the world of multiple sclerosis (MS) is the mission of the MARS Foundation.

Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the central nervous system that can affect the way a person moves, feels and thinks. According to the MARS Foundation, nearly 4,600 Iowans live with MS every day. MercyOne Ruan Neurology Care treats Iowans with MS as well as conducts research on the disease.

“We really respect MercyOne Des Moines,” said Nate Carter, MARS Foundation Board Member and Research Director. “Our hope is to be a part of something great in this community and MercyOne Ruan Neurology Care is the place to be if you have MS.”

The MARS Foundation is a valued supporter of MercyOne Des Moines and Ruan Neurology Care. This last year, the MARS Foundation donated funds which helped establish a new MS Wellness Program as a way to better address the needs of those in our community living with MS.

Nate expressed his excitement about how well this new MS Wellness Program is doing. He along with other MARS Foundation Board members hope to continue this program as well as evolve it to meet more community needs.

“The more resources we can pour into MercyOne Des Moines and Ruan Neurology Care, the better chance we have to continue making strides in MS treatments while working towards a cure,” said Nate.
