Tickets now on sale for MercyOne’s annual ‘Heroes Among Us’ awards ceremony
March 21, 2025The 19th annual MercyOne Heroes Among Us awards ceremony will be held Thursday, March 27, at the Diamond Event Center in Cedar Falls. Join us to celebrate local heroes who have done extraordinary things to benefit others and their communities. Doors open at 7 a.m., and the ceremony begins at 7:30 a.m. Attendees should purchase tickets in advance because a limited number of seats are available.
During the ceremony, MercyOne will recognize the following individuals who performed extraordinary deeds during the 2024 calendar year:
- Animal Hero: Service dog Lou – Denver, Iowa
- Community Service Hero: Jim Larson, Cedar Falls
- Environment Hero: Catharine Wieck, Dysart
- Good Samaritan Adult Hero: Carter Stubitz, Waverly and Sam Nicolino, Des Moines
- Good Samaritan Youth Hero: Bailey Miller, Cedar Falls
- Medical/Health Care Hero: Kevin Dill, Waukee
- Military Hero: Marvin Carr, Cedar Falls
- Public Safety Hero: Officer Amira Ehlers, Waterloo; Officer Justin Brandt, Waterloo; Officer Katelyn Christensen, Independence
- Workplace Hero: Laura Kats, Aplington
The Heroes Among Us celebration honors our local heroes while raising funds to keep expert health care close to home in the Cedar Valley. Proceeds benefit annual campaign projects for MercyOne Waterloo Foundation and MercyOne Cedar Falls Foundation.
