Pharmacy Residency Program
Our Pharmacy Residency Program is focused on developing men and women into competent, confident and compassionate caregivers with emphasis in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to a wide variety of patients. Click here for more information.
MedDrop Program
Drop off your unwanted pharmaceuticals for safe and secure disposal.
Our three retail pharmacies are DEA authorized collectors. Each pharmacy has a MedDrop located inside for patients to bring unwanted prescriptions (including controlled substances) and over-the-counter medications for disposal. MedDrop may not be used for illegal drugs or needles/sharps. Illegal drugs may be turned into the local police department. Needles and sharps must be in a sealed sharps container and can be disposed of at MercyOne Waterloo Pharmacy.
Transition of Care Program
Through this program, a pharmacist will deliver and discuss your medications with you before you leave the hospital. There is no cost to you for this service, you simply pay your normal prescription copay at time of delivery. We want to make getting your prescriptions convenient for you, whether you have been in the hospital for a few days or are having surgery and going home the same day. To have your prescriptions delivered to your room and to speak with a pharmacist, simply ask your nurse about this service during your stay or call 319-272-9493.
SPRAVATO
MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center is a certified SPRAVATO™ treatment center. SPRAVATO™ nasal spray is a prescription medicine, used along with an antidepressant taken by mouth, for treatment-resistant depression in adults. The nasal spray is only available at certified SPRAVATO™ treatment centers under the supervision of a health care professional. MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center is one of only a few hospitals in the state of Iowa qualified to supply this medication for treatment-resistant depression, and the only credentialed hospital in northeast Iowa for this medication. Individuals interested in this treatment should meet with their primary care provider for a referral to a behavioral health specialist.
340B Prescription Drug Program
The 340B prescription drug program is a vital lifeline for safety-net providers supporting critical health services in our communities. The program is narrowly tailored to reach only hospitals that provide a high level of services to low-income individuals or that serve isolated rural communities. Savings from the 340B program help hospitals meet the health care needs of under-served patients across the country. Learn more.
