Physical therapy: The primary focus of physical therapy is to help those with injuries or disabilities achieve their maximum functional level. Speech - language pathology: Speech therapy is focused on helping individuals with communication skills to facilitate functional interaction throughout your daily life. In addition to communication skills, speech therapy plays an integral role in identifying safe diet and swallowing guidelines for individuals with dysphagia. A MercyOne speech-language pathologist will work with you to assess speech, language, cognition and swallowing skills in order to develop an individualized treatment plan to meet your goals. Speech therapy is available at Cedar Falls Medical Center, Oelwein Medical Center and Waterloo Medical Center.
