Interventional Cardiology Fellowship
Overview
The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is a one-year program, ACGME accredited fellowship. We accept one applicant a year.
Program Objectives
- The primary goal of our Interventional Cardiology Fellowship program is to provide comprehensive training in the field of Interventional Cardiology.
- Trainees will develop the requisite procedural skills, cognitive clinical knowledge, judgement and professionalism required to practice the subspecialty of Interventional Cardiology.
- At the completion of the interventional training program, trainees will have acquired the necessary competency and meet the requirements for certification in Interventional Cardiology, as determined by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
- Fellows are exposed to peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional procedures, during their training.
- In order to provide trainees with exposure to the practice of Interventional Cardiology in the community setting, the trainee is required to work in continuity clinic for four hours a week.
- At MercyOne North Iowa and Mason City Heart Center fellows will receive training and supervision in the evaluation, management and interventional treatment of a wide variety of acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
- At MercyOne North Iowa Interventional Fellowship, fellows will gain a perspective on patient selection and clinical decision-making in the care of patient in the catheterization laboratory of a community hospital.
