MikeMike Bohl, a Mercy College of Health Sciences Board Member and alumnus of the Mercy School of Radiologic Technology knows personally how a small donation can grow into something more.

Mike enjoyed his time at Mercy College and is grateful for the hand-on experience he received as he started his career in Radiology.

“I have always enjoyed radiologic technology and the career has been very good to me,” said Mike. “This career has allowed me to experience things that have been really unique.”

As a way to show his support for Mercy College and to encourage others to support the radiologic sciences, Mike and his wife Julia created the Michael and Julia Bohl Radiologic Technology Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship provides support to current radiologic technology students who are in financial need.

“I wanted to do something for Mercy College and for the students who are coming after me,” said Mike.

The Bohl Radiologic Technology Scholarship grew from an annual gift Mike was making to Mercy College. He hopes he can be an example for others and to inspire them to support the College in any way they can. He also hopes this scholarship provides a vehicle for others to support radiologic technology education.

Mike encourages other Mercy College alumni to consider giving back, in a small way, to the program that set them off on their careers. Currently Mike is matching contributions made to the Bohl Radiologic Technology Scholarship up to $5,000.

“Supporting this scholarship and these students is an easy way to give back to a profession that others have enjoyed,” said Mike. “I know this scholarship is useful to students and that it is going to those who are in need of financial help.”

“I hope that through this scholarship I can encourage others to consider making contributions in any way they are able.”

Mike expressed that he has immensely enjoyed the radiologic technology field and wishes current students the best as they set out on their own careers.

“This is truly an interesting field and we get to help people improve their lives,” said Mike. “When you think about the images that we see as radiologic technicians, each one is unique and they are, in essence, little pieces of art.”

“I have had a good career in Radiology and I want to give back,” said Mike. “I hope others think about it in a similar way and make a small donation, anything they can, to support radiologic education at Mercy College.”
