Prairie Meadows Awards $400,000 Legacy Grant to MercyOne Des Moines Foundation
August 1, 2021MercyOne Des Moines Foundation recently received a $400,000 Legacy Grant from Prairie Meadows. Funds will be used to enhance cancer care in Iowa through the MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center.
“We are grateful for Prairie Meadow’s continual support of MercyOne Central Iowa,” said MercyOne Des Moines Foundation President Shannon Cofield. “This grant will impact the lives of so many cancer patients in Central Iowa through this new cancer center.”
Prairie Meadows has been a valued partner of MercyOne for more than 18 years. In 2018, the organization was inducted into the Foundation’s Gilead Circle, which recognizes our most generous MercyOne Central Iowa donors whose giving has provided the vision, leadership and resources that allow us to serve those in need.
The MercyOne Richard Deming Cancer Center will be a center of excellence, which encompasses innovative, multidisciplinary, patient-centered and compassionate cancer care for all Iowans in need. The Center is named after MercyOne Cancer Center Medical Director Richard L. Deming, who has served at MercyOne for 30 years, is a Des Moines community philanthropist and leader and a national leader in cancer care and research.
