At MercyOne, we have audiologists located at both MercyOne Cedar Falls Ear, Nose and Throat Care and Waterloo Ear, Nose and Throat Care. Their primary focus is helping to improve your hearing and overall quality of life. Our Doctors of Audiology provide diagnostic services in Northeast Iowa for people of all ages. Our hearing experts work closely with our Ear, Nose and Throat providers to diagnose hearing loss and discuss treatment options. In addition to hearing loss, our audiologists can also treat balance disorders and tinnitus, which is a ringing or buzzing sound in the ear.

Hearing Aid Program

Our doctors of Audiology are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and hold licenses to dispense hearing aids in the state of Iowa, working with seven major hearing aid manufacturers to allow us to fit every age, lifestyle and budget. Manufacturers include:

In finding the hearing aid that is right for you, MercyOne audiologists can fit them behind the ear and in the ear. We also have the options to provide hearing aids that are rechargeable, and hearing aids that can wirelessly connect to a smart phone.

At our local clinic, we also run custom speech mapping on all hearing aid fittings to ensure every patient is fitted appropriately for personalized comfort and audibility based on an individual’s hearing loss.

Newborn Hearing Screening Program

Every child born in the U.S. has a hearing screening shortly after birth. MercyOne works to identify childhood hearing loss as soon as possible, allowing our specialists to intervene by three months of age. An early diagnosis will insure speech and language acquisition. This will also insure they won't fall behind their hearing peers in speech and language development and learning.

The MercyOne newborn hearing screenings are part of the newborn program offered at Waterloo Birth Center.
