Where do visitors park at the hospital?

Free parking is available in the hospital's ramp. You can enter the ramp from either Fifth or Sixth streets, or from MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center's south circle drive. Visitors can take elevators to the first floor where there is an information desk in the South Lobby.

Where is handicapped parking available?

Handicapped parking spaces are designated in MercyOne's parking ramp, in the vicinity of the Emergency/Trama Department (near Sixth and Jennings streets), and near the entrance of the MercyOne Rehabilitation Center (near Seventh and Jones streets).

What are Mercy's guidelines for visitors and families?

As COVID-19 cases continue to decline in our service region, we are pleased to share changes to our visitor policy. Effective May 14, 2021, up to two (2) visitors are allowed for each patient per day for outpatient and inpatient care. This includes same day procedures, clinic visits and emergency room visits. MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center inpatients will be asked to provide the name(s) of approved visitors upon being settled in their room. Visitors may leave and come back the same day.

All visitors are required to:

  • Be free of signs of illness and will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Adhere to COVID precautionary guidelines including hand hygiene and mandatory masking at all times. Additional PPE may be supplied to support persons as necessary.

Visitors are welcome use all waiting rooms and common areas, including the café located on Level 3 of the South Building and The Shop Within hospital gift shop located on Level 1 of the South Building, near the main entrance. We ask you to continue with social distancing between family groups when possible.

 

When are patients' meals served in the hospital?

Serving times may vary by nursing unit, buy you can generally expect meal service at these times:

Breakfast 8:30 a.m.  
Lunch 12:30 p.m.  
Dinner 6:00 p.m.

Snacks are available any time. Feel free to ask your nurse.

When is the hospital's cafeteria open?

Located on the third floor of the South Hospital Building, MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center's café is open from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Meal serving times are:  
Breakfast: 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.  
Lunch: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  
Salad and Sandwich Bar and Grill: 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.  
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The cafeteria accepts credit cards, debit cards and cash.

Does MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center have wireless Internet access?

Patients or visitors with portable devices, including laptops, can use MercyOne's wireless Internet access. If you need assistance, ask your nurse. Visitors may use the computers in the family waiting areas in the ICU, Dr. Joseph Washburn Oncology unit, and nursing units.

Can I use my cell phone in the hospital?

Using cell phones or portable radios is prohibited in certain areas with patient monitors and special devices because radio waves can interfere with these medical instruments. Visitors must turn off their cell phones and portable radios in patient rooms. Cell phones and portable radios may be used in waiting rooms and public areas of the hospital.

 

Where is the gift shop located? When is it open?

The Shop Within gift shop is located on the first floor of the South Building at the hospital's Fifth Street entrance. Profits from the gift shop support the MercyOne Siouxland Foundation's projects at the hospital and its clinics. 

Is there an ATM at the hospital?

An ATM is located on the third floor of the South Building near the cafeteria.

Are there designated smoking areas at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center?

MercyOne prohibits smoking in the hospital or on the hospital grounds, including public sidewalks adjoining the hospital.

Does MercyOne make interpreters available?

MercyOne helps non-English speaking patients understand their diagnosis, treatment and discharge instructions by offering interpreter or translator services at no extra cost.
