Visitor Guidelines
MercyOne is committed to the safety of our patients, visitors, colleagues, physicians and the communities we serve. Visitor restrictions are updated as needed to help protect the safety of our patients, colleagues and community.
Effective October 17, 2022, the number of visitors per patient allowed is based on the current COVID-19 Community Transmission Rate. You may not visit more than one patient, unless approved by administration. Visitor hours are between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. CST each day.
- If the COVID-19 Community Transmission Rate is high for our community, two (2) visitors per patient will be allowed at a time and masking is required.
- If the COVID-19 Community Transmission Rate is low, moderate or substantial for our community, visitors are welcome and masking is encouraged for everyone, including visitors or patients who are immunocompromised.
EXCEPTIONS are permitted for patients meeting certain or compassionate care criteria, which may include:
- Maternity units
- Patients receiving end-of-life (EOL) care
- Developmentally/cognitively impaired adults
- Patients who are minors
- Two (2) visitors are allowed with COVID-19 positive patients or person under investigation (PUI). Two visitors per patient are permitted in the room at a time.
- Two (2) visitors are allowed when a patient is located in the emergency department.
ALL VISITORS ARE REQUIRED TO:
- Be free of signs of illness and will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19.
- Adhere to COVID-19 precautionary guidelines including hand hygiene and masking in designated rooms. Additional PPE may be supplied to support persons as necessary.
- Stay in their respective patient’s room, as appropriate, and only be outside of this area during entrance, exit, or if food is obtained from the cafeteria or vending.
- During some procedures, the support person may be asked to leave.
PERSONS SHOULD NOT VISIT IF they have any of the following conditions within 10 days of the date of visitation:
- Tested positive for COVID-19
- Been exposed to COVID-19
- Experienced COVID-19 symptoms
*These guidelines may change as COVID-19 community transmission rates fluctuate. We do recognize that patient support from a family member or friend contributes to patient experience, safety and healing. In addition to the COVID-19 community transmission rates, this policy may change dependent on community transmission rates of other transmissible diseases such as influenza. We desire to balance these important elements with the need to protect patients and colleagues from unnecessary exposure to COVID-19. As changes occur with our policy, based on our community needs, we encourage you to phone, video conference and stay in touch with your loved one.
