Our MercyOne Northeast Iowa Story

In 1914, Joseph Francis Sartori presented funding to the city of Cedar Falls, Iowa for Sartori Memorial Hospital as a memorial to his parents, Joseph and Theresa Sartori. Since then, three Catholic medical centers have merged to form MercyOne Northeast Iowa, providing personalized health care to the Cedar Valley, MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center, MercyOne Cedar Falls Medical Center and MercyOne Oelwein Medical Center.

Since 1988, MercyOne Waterloo Cancer Center has offered advanced treatment techniques, serving as Iowa’s first stand-alone facility to combine both radiation and chemotherapy treatment, and offer full support services in one convenient location, standing as a promise of hope for those with cancer.

In 1994, care forms to further extend the integrated network of physician health care services to the communities it serves within the metropolitan area of Waterloo/Cedar Falls, as well as in 13 rural communities:

  • Arlington
  • Evansdale
