The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit, national body that oversees the safety and quality of health care and other services provided in accredited organizations.

MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center is recognized as a 2014 Top Performer in The Joint Commission’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures® program. The hospital is one of only 1,043 hospitals in the United States to achieve this distinction based on excellence in accountability measure performance.

Waterloo Medical Center has been recognized for its achievement on the following 2014 accountability measure sets: heart attack, pneumonia, surgical care, and perinatal care.
