SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary

R1 - $64,000 
R2 - $65,500 
R3 - $67,000

Vacations

Residents receive twenty one (21) working days of time off per year of residency.

Continuing Medical Education (CME)

PGY1 - $300 
PGY2 - $600 and three (3) days of leave for conference attendance 
PGY3 - $600 and five (5) days of leave for conference attendance

Core Benefits

The hospital’s core benefits program is a comprehensive benefits program available to residents the first day of employment. With these core benefits, you pay for only the benefits that best suit your individual needs. Residents can choose from all core benefits plus additional supplemental benefits: Medical Care, Dental Care, Vision Care, Spending Accounts, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, Group Legal, and Retirement.

Professional Liability

As part of your residency, you are provided medical malpractice coverage.

Food Services

Residents will have an allotment per academic year for meals purchased in the Hospital’s cafeteria during working hours.

Housing

Residents will receive priority in obtaining housing owned by the hospital, located within five minutes or less walking distance from the hospital. 

Dues, Memberships and Licenses

Hospital will pay for all state of Iowa licenses and Federal and State DEA. Additionally, the Hospital will pay for membership in National, State and County organized groups (AOA, ACOI, AMA, IMS, and Cerro Gordo County Medical Society).

Health Club Membership

Family memberships are provided to all residents to the Mason City YMCA.

Moonlighting

Moonlighting is available upon receiving an Iowa Permanent License and with the consent of the Program Director.

Interview Expense

Applicants are provided one night of lodging.

Sign-on/Transition Allowance

A one-time sign-on/transition allowance of $1,400 is provided.

Miscellaneous

Lab coats and scrubs are provided. Each resident will receive a laptop for use during residency training.
