About

Dr. Arason was born in Iceland to an American mother and an Icelandic father. After working a number of different jobs, pursuing competitive and professional sports on an international level, and traveling the world, he found medicine to be his calling. He did undergraduate studies in California and New York before attending medical school at Des Moines University. Dr. Arason completed his family practice residency training at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines and has since then practiced locally in the outpatient setting as well as inpatient chemical dependency. He spent two years at the Iowa Veteran's Home in Marshalltown caring for dependent Veterans. Outside of work, his interests include combat sports, soccer, restoration projects, travel and family. He believes the patient-provider relationship is to be an ever-evolving partnership based on mutual respect and understanding.
