Dr. Santos’s first exposure to the field of medicine was as a child after experiencing unintended consequences of a health care system that struggled to serve its expanding patient base. His interest continued through high school, where he completed a 4-year technical nursing track and was able to experience both acute and chronic care. However, it wasn’t until he participated in the relief efforts in Bangladesh, after the tropical cyclones in 2007, while serving with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit that his goals of pursuing a career in medicine were solidified. He continues to serve as a family physician because it allows him to provide whole person care, in both the acute and non-acute setting, to individuals and families.
When not working, Dr. Santos enjoys walks on the beach, water sports, flying radio control aircrafts, reading, meeting new people, spending time with family and learning new skills.
