Shawn is a board-certified physician assistant who graduated from Des Moines University’s physician assistant program. She has over 20 years of experience in patient care working in obstetrics and gynecology, family practice medicine, general surgery and finally plastic surgery. During the past 12 years, Shawn has been a valued provider in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Shawn’s involvement in the practice has included first assisting in surgery, taking calls and holding outpatient clinic hours to help meet the needs of our patients..
Shawn’s experience, gained by assisting in the operating room for many years, allows her to efficiently coordinate postoperative care in her clinics. She is skilled in total body screening for skin cancer and benign lesions. She is well-versed in the initial workup and nonoperative management of hand conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, ganglions and trigger finger.
