Donor Spotlight: Lynn McCormick
June 4, 2023For the past 30 years, Lynn McCormick has supported MercyOne and MercyOne House of Mercy through her time, talents and generosity.
Lynn first started as a grant writer for MercyOne Des Moines Foundation and then became the manager of MercyOne House of Mercy. As she prepares to retire, she is grateful to be serving in an organization that works tirelessly for the common good of others. She expressed that she will miss her colleagues and the interactions she has daily with the clients.
“I have enjoyed my time at MercyOne House of Mercy,” said Lynn. “My favorite part has been the opportunity to work with a variety of mission centered colleagues to advance health care and behavioral health services to those most in need in our community.”
MercyOne House of Mercy is one of Iowa’s largest and most comprehensive providers of vital behavioral health services. The organization provides high-quality evidenced-based substance use disorder treatment and mental health programs to individuals and families, including the state’s largest long-term residential treatment program for women and children.
“It’s a family environment here and part of the uniqueness of MercyOne House of Mercy is our residential program which allows clients to stay here on site so no day is typical,” said Lynn. “I enjoy seeing clients progress in their recovery journey. Even though I am on the business side of things, I felt it was my calling to shine a light on the work being done here and the fact that people can and do get better.”
Throughout her many years of service, Lynn also consistently gave back to MercyOne House of Mercy. She knows her generosity is supporting the clients she sees every day.
“It really makes you reflect on what is important in the world and in the community,” said Lynn. “The fact that what I contributed truly impacted someone in a personal and life changing way, there’s nothing that can match that.”
“The thing that inspires me most to give back is knowing that I am helping others, no matter how far removed or close I am, that has always been important to me.”
Philanthropy enables MercyOne House of Mercy to provide life-changing programs and services for our community. Clients receive personalized treatment plans to help them succeed and grow. Lynn sees firsthand the impact community support has on the organization and the clients served.
“Donor support has just been a Godsend,” said Lynn. “We have made so many improvements over the years thanks to philanthropy. It really is a blessing.”
Lynn encourages others to support the transformational and vital work taking place at MercyOne House of Mercy.
“We are all worthy of an opportunity to heal,” said Lynn. “The work being done at MercyOne and MercyOne House of Mercy is changing and saving lives.”
