- Provides direct patient care prior to and during transport for all patient populations including neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, guided by protocols. Operates required videos in a safe manner.
Qualifications: Be at least 18 years of age, completion of an Emergency Medical Technician program and possession of State and National Licensure as an EMT-B
- Administers nursing care to patients under the direction of the RN. This includes assessing patients, implementing plans of care and evaluating the patient’s response to care in coordination with providers.
Qualifications: LPN licenses by the state of Iowa
- Collect or receive samples of fluids or tissues. Determine if the quality and quantity are sufficient for testing. Use the lab equipment or chemicals to prepare the samples for testing. Perform the required tests on the samples. Keep accurate records. Label the specimens appropriately and send them to other departments as needed.
Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent
- Enters patient prescription orders into computer, prepares medications to be checked by pharmacist, fills stock bags and utilizes automated dispensing system.
Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent, completion and possession of a certification as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Iowa
- Delivers intraoperative care to the surgical patient, primarily in the scrub role. Serves the patients from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent along with a Surgical Technologist certification
- Assess patients with traumatic medical conditions with findings reflected in the patient record. Triages, prioritizes, and anticipates patients’ needs. Develops a plan of care. Provides ongoing evaluation, altering the plan of care as indicated. Documents findings and interventions.
Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent along with a current Paramedic certification
- Responsible for collecting blood from patients in a timely and accurate manner using appropriate venous, arterial or capillary technique. As the face of the laboratory, phlebotomists always maintain professional behavior and technical skills demonstrating well developed customer service skills.
Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent, Phlebotomy certification is preferred
- Maintains and organizes inventory of all supplies, drugs, medical gases and equipment in anesthesia storage areas. Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment and corrects. If necessary, takes equipment for repair. Participates in airway management of applying cricoid pressure and assists in setting up the glidescope/fiberoptic scope/LMA and other devices.
Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent along CNA certification is preferred
- Responsible for coding and abstracting patients’ records for professional billing. Reviews patient medical records retrospectively and concurrently for the coding and sequencing of diagnoses and procedures for reimbursement purposes. Interacts and assists with coding requests and questions from billers.
Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent, along with Coding certification (~6 months)
- Communicate with patients and their caregivers throughout their entire clinic experience. Work with front office, back office and all clinical support required in between to ensure patients and their caregivers have a positive experience.
Qualifications: Graduated from accredited program (1 year), programs available at MercyOne
- Performs clinical testing, quality control and maintenance.
Qualifications: Associate degree in a science field and MLT certification
- Performs diagnostic imaging. Provides education for patients, family members or caregivers to ensure smooth imaging.
Qualifications: Completion of Radiologic Technologist Program and licensed in the state of Iowa
- Performs diagnostic imaging procedures on scheduled shifts including operating imaging equipment. Rotates regularly through surgery cases to acquire the skills and proficiency necessary.
- Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counseling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional, and environmental health problems.
Qualifications: : Completion of a Diagnostic Sonography program and licensed in the State of Iowa
- Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assists or performs intubation, manages artificial airway, and transport of patients requiring ventilatory support. Assembles, manipulates, and troubleshoots Respiratory Care equipment including mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems and mechanical percussors.
Qualifications: Certificate of completion from an accredited Respiratory Care Program
- Delivers and documents daily radiation therapy treatments as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Organizes daily schedule of patients receiving radiation therapy treatments. Performs daily warm-up of linear accelerators, simulator. Maintains a daily log of machine data and informs the Chief Therapist or Medical Physicist of any equipment malfunction.
Qualifications: Registered as a radiation therapist
